Launch of the European Urban LAG Network (EUrbanLAG Net)

European Parliament, Brussels – 4 November 2025

The European Urban Local Action Groups Network (EUrbanLAG Net) has officially joined the main European CLLD networks, alongside ELARD and FARNET. The high-level launch event, held in Brussels from 3–5 November 2025 and hosted at the European Parliament by MEPs Victor Negrescu and Ștefan Mușoiu, brought together Urban LAGs, national and local authorities, European officials, and organisations from Romania, Poland, Portugal, Czechia, and Hungary.

Key speakers highlighted the importance of Community-Led Local Development (CLLD) for territorial cohesion, social inclusion, and empowering vulnerable urban communities. They also called for a dedicated 5% allocation for Urban CLLD in the 2028–2034 EU budget.

The event confirmed that Urban CLLD is mature, effective, and ready to become a structural policy of the next EU Multiannual Financial Framework. EUrbanLAG Net now represents the European voice of urban communities implementing CLLD.

Urban LAGs are encouraged to use the designation:
“Member of the European Urban Local Action Groups Network”
reflecting shared European identity and unity.

Romania, as the founding driver of this network, continues its trajectory of building Europe from the bottom up through active, responsible, and united communities.
